Sunday Views on Monday

I've been on a mission to catch up lately, to finally get myself to a place where each day starts and ends neatly.  It doesn't always happen that way, but I am either getting up earlier or staying up later to try to make it happen.  Late, for me, happens to be 10 PM.  Living on the edge!  I have been struggling so much to get simple things done and I have such a long list of things that I need to make and do (and company's coming Friday!).  Do the next thing, I say.

Maid Marian

Willow and Laurel have birthdays coming, so my grandmother gave them their gifts early.  She loves to do that.  Here is Willow in her long-awaited Maid Marian costume.  She has had so much fun with this and I am pleased, too.  Our children really love the animated Disnery version of Robin Hood and I admit to having a soft spot for it, too.  I'm Lady Cluck, of course.  And, I'll agree to that--she could surely hold her own.  No damsels in distress here, please.

Nappy babies

Laurel welcomed a tiny doll of her own and a wool hood for those forthcoming chilly days.  Willow said Laurel's hood made her a knight.   Of course, she was much more pleased with the baby, but I know the hood will be invaluable on our walks.  It won't be long until things turn cold when the sun goes down.  Last week was hot and humid, but this one will turn cool by Friday.  I already had to put a hat and slipper socks on Laurel and dress the others more warmly.  Made for a nice story time this morning, with children all snuggled under blankets!

Robin Hood

After saving their dollars given by grandparents and so forth for seven months, we cashed in the costume fund.  Roan got his own Robin Hood hat and sword and he has been so proud.  I made him a stick bow and arrow and a quiver to carry it in.  You can see a little sneak peek at a sewing project of mine this past week.  I'll share more tomorrow.

Good night!

Love the costumes! Robin Hood is a favorite here, as well. :) Morwenna has that same little pixie baby doll in red.

They are so pleased after months of saving. Roan has since confiscated the little pink baby for himself.

Those costumes are amazing!! We also love Robin Hood "the fox one" as we call it at our house. It was my favorite as a child also. My favorite line is lady's cluck's "Death to tyrants!" Now that I know she's into maidens I have another book to amazon to you. Please don't hate me for cluttering your bookshelf! You may have to edit a bit or wait until you feel like she's ready, but the pictures make it worth it!
I have been thinking about you a lot. And getting very excited about the dollies!

It is so nice to get books in the mail. A Time to Keep has been so very sweet and so nice in this difficult time. What book are you thinking of?

The dolls are moving along nicely. They're going to get Wintry clothes, since your new place will have winter! I'll have to make some hats and socks, too.

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
