Autumn Views (Catching Up)

Every spare moment of my days are consumed lately, always something to do or make or wash. I'd had hopes for a nice simple verse to suit this day, but I need to catch up. Let's see.  Good news, of sorts.  Mike is nearly hired for a part-time position that may become full-time.  We are cautiously hopeful, trusting that things will work out, even if we don't know the end result.

Michaelmas Daisies

Every year, Michaelmas daisies bloom in the berry patch, just in time.
This year, they are more white.  I wonder why that is.
We surely have felt like we've been battling dragons all year long.

The dogwood is covered in berries this year.
There are a lot of acorns, too.
I find myself running over them on drives.

In the den

The children and I built a den, which Laurel really enjoyed exploring.

And I've settled on a new bread recipe, partly whole wheat with lots of maple syrup.
Making four loaves at once is new to me, but we did plow through three last week.
My hope is to try out some white whole wheat flour, just to see what it's like.

Clearly, there has been some concern about this,
but I think more whole grains will be good for us all.
It's taken me a long time to be able to eat them again.

Pumpkin Field

We went to a family lunch yesterday at a family-style restaurant.
It was loud and busy and overwhelming to me,
but the food was good and we had a lovely drive home.

Autumn Cemetery

We stopped at a cemetery where I spent a lot of time as a child,
near my grandmother's old Summer home.
Signs of Autumn were all around and we had a wonderful time.

Your pictures are so beautiful. I am hopeful with you over the job. Thought about you lately...I am reading some historical fiction set in your mountains.

Best of luck on the job! Y'all deserve a good thing.

Laurel's worried face kills me.

Thank you! Yes, the girl does look either very happy or quite concerned. I am curious what it will mean for her future.

Love your bread loaves -- we've been making fresh bread this week too (I taught E how to use the bread machine). And that Laurel is a DOLL!!

Thanks! I had to freeze two, but I wrapped them up in many layers and crossed my fingers.

Your bread is lovely. I have used white whole wheat and whole wheat bread flour, and I like both. I haven't baked much lately, maybe cooler weather will change that.

It's coming fast! Our weekend looks chilly!

I don't know if I'm ready for it to be so chilly this quickly! Would you mind to share your bread recipe?

I think it will be short-lived. The recipe is linked above. :-) It's very maple-y.

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
