The View from Here :: Slowly

Mr. Snail

Oh how slowly, oh how slowly,
Comes the snail along his track.
Seven days he takes to travel
Just a little way and back.
Oh how slowly, oh how slowly,
Through the grass he makes his trail -
Inch by inch he carries onward
But he’ll get there, Mr. Snail.

~Enki Kindergarten Fingerplays

We found this little fellow last week during one of our egg hunts.  Roan noticed him, always the one to see the smallest things.  Poor boy fell in Big Tumbling Creek this afternoon and Mike had to get him out, losing his glasses and wallet in the process.  He called to say that he's okay, but this makes even more we have lost in such a short time.  New glasses cannot be put off when someone drives for a living.  I'm struggling to understand all that has happened in the past week (my grain mill broke, too!).  This snail does remind me that we just have to keep moving forward sometimes.  Say a prayer that Mike can get into the eye doctor and DMV in the morning.  We are supposed to leave on a family trip tomorrow, but all this has me feeling rather nervous.

It was very scary and much more serious than I knew when I wrote this. They are still okay and got lots of special treatment. My goodness.

Oh my goodness, you have had quite a week! Praying for easy replacements. I am so sorry.

P.S. that is the tiniest snail I've ever seen!

Yes, I do hope it is over. The boys were in quite a situation, I have learned. There were some fishermen nearby who were able to help. Mike found an old pair of glasses, so we are okay for a bit on that.

It is! I just couldn't get over it, so busy, too! I don't know how Roan ever saw it.

I'm so glad that Roan is okay after his fall into the river, but I am really sorry that Mike lost his glasses and wallet in the rescue. That is really hard. I hope everything works out.♥

Oh, Brandy! I will definitely be saying some prayers. I'm so glad Roan is okay. Children + running water can give parents some of their scariest moments. I hope everything worked out with the glasses and the DMV. I've almost forgotten to mention the snail - that is such a wonder. Yes, sometimes all we can do is go forward, even at a snail's pace. - Stacey

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
