Crafting On :: For a Birthday

It is far too hot to sew this week (and next, it seems!), so my pile of mending and altering and sewing it waiting around.  Willow tells me that I can move my machine inside and I may just do it.  It's on the enclosed back porch, which often means that it's rather chilly or hot when I want to sew.  Oh, well.  There is always something else to do!

Becky's birthday is tomorrow and she's having a little cupcake party this evening to celebrate.  I've had in mind for some time to make her a little knitted bunny, so I made one from All Year Round.  It's made with alpaca yarn and has a little roving tail.  It's soft and sweet, just like her own pet bunny.

And here's a window star that I made to brighten a window in her home or classroom.  I am happy to see all the school supplies on sale so that I could stock up on glue sticks and tape for the year.  A glue stick is a must for assembling window stars.

And not a birthday present, but something I have made progress on is the Martinmas Sweater.  I'm working on the body of the sweater now!  I feel so pleased with myself and I think I will have enough yarn to get it done, provided Willow's mittens didn't take too much.  That's me, often fretting over yarn amounts until the very end.  I've got two skeins left, so I feel optimistic!

What a cute bunny!

What size is the sweater? Those skeins are generous and should be enough. I just had a close call with yarn, too, but managed a photo finish.

Thanks! The sweater is a 6-8. I'm hopeful, but nervous. I want her to get plenty of wear out of it.

That window star is very pretty, and that bunny certainly is cute. You have made more progress on your sweater than I have. I am still just thinking about it. ;) I have to drag my sewing machine out of the closet and use the dining table when I want to sew. Sometimes I dream of having a dedicated place for it. - Stacey

Thanks! I saw some gold acrylic yarn at Wal-Mart that looks just like the wool yarn in the pattern. Now I want to make an easily washable version for our wild girl. ;-) I hear you about the dreams. I think mine are including snow and howling winds lately.

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
