Fall Color Fix

The dry weather we've been having has brought early Fall color.  It's no substitute for adequate rain, but it does help give a little optimism to the hot days we've been having.  The land is so thirsty, it seems, and the cooler nights are merciful.  We've had some days of no air conditioning and others around ninety degrees.

Tulip Tree

I took these photos on Saturday in the National Forest near Bear Creek. Laurel needed a nap and I needed a break from the birthday excitement. Fall is out there, it's just around the corner. Some trees are ahead of schedule and others are right on time.  The color change is really subtle--you won't noticing looking at the mountainsides from the valley.  Once you get in the trees, it's obvious that change is afoot.  I am so ready!

Your autumn is more obvious than ours right now... hardly any leaves changing, some goldenrod blooming, pumpkins arriving at the stores... that's about it here. :) Pretty pictures! - Stacey

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
