Over the Mountain

The color is really starting to pick up around here.
We have a long list of roads to drive each year at this time,
so I checked off Pugh Mountain Road this past week.

Ablaze

I remember the first time I drove on it. The forest was golden and bright.

Pugh Mountain Road

I had no idea where the road went, but it came out in the Teas valley in Sugar Grove.

Teas 1

I never get tired of this view, no matter the season.

Teas 2

It's been wet this week, but we have hopes for some sort of nature adventure today.
Willow and I want to collect leaves to dip them in beeswax and Roan wants to make a Leaf Man.

Gorgeous!

It's still mostly green here.

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
