Finding Balance

Gooseberries

There are so many paradoxes in parenting
that it is difficult to find balance.
Some don't even try.
They just plunge ahead
ignoring the subtle whispers of wisdom.
Others try half-heartedly,
but resort to old methods
when they get confused.
But some hear wisdom's quiet voice
and make it their own.

They find strength in softness,
power in flexibility,
perfection in mistakes,
success in failure,
clarity in confusion,
and love in letting go.

~The Parent's Tao Te Ching

Very timely for me, I think. :-) I put in the book credit--forgot to!

The photo reminds me so much of the wild gooseberry bushes that grew in the mountains of California. Perhaps a slightly smaller berry. I guess the technical name for them was Sierra Currants.

Those do look more like currants, definitely in the same family. :-)

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
