Mid-August Views

All last week was dry and fairly pleasant outside.
Mornings were cool and I often opened the windows to let in fresh air.
This week looks to be warmer and wetter, with a chance of a thunderstorm every day.
Things are winding down, though, it is easy to see.

Blackberries End

The blackberries have given us gallons of berries.
I need to do an official count of all we've picked this year.
I gave away a gallon, if that's any indication of the bounty.

We missed the grapes, so no grape juice, I think.
They are good to stand around and snack on, though.
Without a late freeze, vines and trees have been heavy with fruit this year.

The marigolds bring us Fall color until we have it honestly.
They love to be picked and I love to see how Willow will decorate with them.
We'll need to let some go to seed, of course, and save those.

I need to get some pictures of our pumpkins.  Bumper crop this year, despite all that rain and the fungus it brought.

I am smelling fall in your post!

I've been feeling a turn towards autumn here, even. It's gotten just cool enough that I don't feel like I'm swimming in stew, and it's rainy and gloomy more. I love it.

I always love rain and gloom. :-) If we could just get rid of these pesky mosquitoes.

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
