Crafting On

Crayons Rolled

I made a crayon roll for Willow, using this tutorial.
Block crayons have a terrible way of getting each other dirty,
so much so that one of our browns colors silver at the moment.
I'm pleased with how it turned out and will make one for the other first graders as they come along.

Crayon Roll

Enki offers instructions for a crayon roll, though I'm told they do not compute.
Considering I ended up with an 11-crayon roll, I don't guess I do, either.
Still, this is just perfect to hold all the favorite crayons, with spares stored away.
Laurel gets to use the broken Filana crayons (yes, I vote Stockmar),
as you can see there have been some casualities.
Thank goodness one can order individual blocks and sticks.

Skirt with Pocket

I'd had this skirt cut out for some time,
but needed to think about how to put in the pockets.
My learning needs a sleep cycle, too.
It's a simple corduroy, turned on its side, with two tiers and an elastic waist.
The skirt is modeled after an old favorite and should fit a good long time.

Roan's Tomten is coming along and I'm almost to the armpits.
I'm really plowing through the Mission Falls yarn I got at the thrift store.
It makes me a little nervous about how much will be left,
but I want this to be a very nice jacket.

Becky's Beret

And lastly, the sparkly sequin beret for Becky.
It's hard to photograph a beret when it's not on a head,
especially in the waning October daylight.
I made up the pattern as I went along and I am pleased.
She was, too, which is the most important part.

Nice work! Love the crayons all tucked away snug, and the skirt.

Love the new crayon roll, and if it has the 'wrong' number of sections, so be it!

Thank you! It works!

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
