Signs of Spring

Snow drop wake up
Spring is coming, spring is coming. . .

~Enki Grade One

It seemed all the world knew that Winter shifted yesterday.  Our cold-loathing neighbor sat out on his porch, in his coveralls, waiting for his wife to get home from work.  We took a walk around the neighborhood for the first time since Roan and I got ticks.  We look at logs differently now, needless to say.  Anyway, we were looking for signs of Spring and we did find them.  The snow drops are starting to poke out their blooms and one was even beginning to nod its head.

The rhubarb is sending small pink buds out of the soil and the crocus leaves are visible.  Tulips and daffodils are putting out small leaves.  Easter comes early this year, so I am curious to see just how Springy it will be just a few days in.  There will be more snow, of course, and the leaves don't come on the mountainsides until May.  It is still nice to see things turning toward longer, warmer days.

I think most of the snow will be gone today, as it is supposed to be in the fifties, and then there will be mud.

Sticks, Again

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
