Crafting On

We're wrapping up the garden today, or most of it.  The nights are cool and the first frost won't be far off.  We found two pumpkins, bringing our total to 24 this year.  There are a few tomatoes left, along with a few of those prolific banana peppers and red raspberries.  It's been a big work day around here preparing a big pile for a bonfire and mowing the parts of the yard that have grown in this drought.  Yes, parts.  Anyway!  Making things!

Stick Gnome

At Roan's request, I made the little fellow on the left to go with the one the Magic Fairy Lady made.
You can click on the picture to see them bigger.
I've got plans for some bigger stick gnomes, maybe even a few for my etsy shop!

Silk and Ball

We dyed silk and wool last week for Michaelmas.
The silk is dyed with pokeberries (not many) and red drink mix.  I think the two made the best red we've had.
The wool was dyed with goldenrod (not much) and turmeric.  I think it's the best yellow-gold we've made, too!

Shooting Star

The balls have little polished stones inside them to give them weight.
The tales are just ribbons that are folded in half and sewn on.
The Arkansas Traveler just loves to be in photos.  Stacey made him, of course.

And lastly, I made these corduroy knickers for Roan. I lost the pattern in the process, so I had to improvise some areas, or just pull from my own sewing skills. I changed the waist to leave out a zipper and I made a simple front waistband with elastic in the back. Roan has mixed feelings about them, probably because they are not shorts. Laurel, on the other hand, wore them to church on Sunday and got compliments!

Do you have an etsy shop? If so, will you please share it? I'd love to see what you offer! :)

I do! It's Brandy's Fiber Frolic. I don't have anything but dairy kefir grains right now, but I'm hoping for some new items soon. :-)

A Blessed Wilderness

It was just like being in heaven, being in there. In those days there was no road. The park was all a blessed wilderness. I have often thought what a wonderful people we would have been if we had wanted to keep it that way.
